#ShaGP: Preview

Preview – 2019 FIA Formula One Heineken Chinese Grand Prix

9 out of 990

Before we enter the 1000th race of F1, here are 9 reminders, why Alfa Romeo and Sauber played an integral part in some of the 999 races so far.

Frédéric Vasseur, Team Principal Alfa Romeo Racing and CEO Sauber Motorsport AG:
“We look forward to returning to Shanghai. It being the 1000th Formula One Grand Prix makes this event even more extraordinary. Our team is proud of its long history in our sport, having entered 468 Grands Prix to date. The passion and tradition behind our project is clear. We arrive at this milestone keeping in mind the dedication that each member of our team has shown over the past 26 years, allowing it to become what it is today. Our Title Sponsor Alfa Romeo also has a rich history in Formula One, having participated in – and won – the very first race back in 1950. We are proud to start the 1000th race together, motivated to continue contributing to the history of motorsport. Celebrations aside, we will focus on pushing to make further progress on the sporting side this weekend. Our pace was good and both drivers put in a solid performance at the last race in Bahrain. We will aim to continue on this path and bring home some more points from China.”

Kimi Räikkönen (car number 7):
“The next race will be a special one. I have had the chance to experience some of the great moments in Formula One history and am happy to continue making history with Alfa Romeo Racing. We have been working on making progress over the past two race weekends and feel confident of our potential. I look forward to seeing what we will achieve at this next one in Shanghai.”

Antonio Giovinazzi (car number 99):
“I look forward to arriving in China. To be competing in Formula One this year is something special to me and being part of the 1000th Grand Prix, such a historic event in our sport, is a great honour. I am proud to bring the Italian flag to one of the 20 cockpits at this event and will give my all to bring home a good result. We had a solid weekend in Bahrain and will work hard to deliver a strong performance this weekend in China.”
